The 1,2,3's of Hair Growth

My mother told me that I should make the basics of hair health easy. So I thought what's easier than learning your abc's and 123's. First the 123's:

There are 1, 2, 3 stages of hair growth:

1) The Anagen phase is known as the period of active growth. It can last up to eight years, this is determined by genetics. The longer the hair stays in the anagen phase, the faster and longer it will grow. About 85% of the hairs on one's head are in the anagen phase at a given time.

2) The Catagen phase determines when the anagen phase ends and the catagen phase begins. The catagen phase, also known as the transitional phase, allows the follicle to, in a sense, renew itself as it prepares for the resting phase. During this time, which lasts about two weeks, the hair follicle shrinks due to disintegration and the papilla detaches and "rests", cutting the hair strand off from its nourishing blood supply.

Basically it stimulates the scalp which helps with blood flow to the scalp, which nourishes the hair bulb/follicle, which makes the roots stronger. It wakes up the sleepy or half dead follicles. Massaging it in is good because scalp massage also stimulates scalp and blood flow to the scalp. Because it contains It is drying to your hair so you want to make sure you moisturize your hair especially your ends to prevent breakage. DIRECTIONS: Cleanse and apply without drying the hair. Apply for at least 4-6 consecutive weeks. 3 times a week.

I'm using this product now - I'll let you know if it makes a difference.

What Causes Premature Gray Hair

Gray hair is hair that has lost its melanin (the cells that provides color to hair strands).

WHAT CAUSES PREMATURE GRAY HAIR?
Genetics
Graying hair occurs naturally as a part of the aging process and doesn’t normally indicate an underlying health problem. As you age, your body slows the production of the pigment called melanin, which gives your hair color. Lower levels of melanin make your hair appear gray or white. Genetics determine the start and rate of melanin production decline. Going gray before the age of 30 in Caucasians or 40 in African Americans is considered premature graying, according to the University of at Alabama Birmingham Health System. Talk to your parents or grandparents. If they started to go gray at an early age, you’re probably just genetically predisposed to premature graying. Other causes:

Nutrition:
Some claim inadequate nutrition may contribute to the graying of hair. The B complex vitamins, especially biotin, pantothenic acid and vitamin B-6, are thought to directly affect hair health and prevent graying. Eating a balanced diet and taking a daily multivitamin may prevent or slow graying hair, although little scientific research has been conducted in this area to confirm or refute this theory.

Illness
Certain medical conditions, diseases and illnesses can expedite graying hair.

Sulphur For Beautiful Hair

My sister-in-law in Chicago, first mentioned Sulphur to me. I visited her and noticed her hair was gorgeous, healthy, thick, and very long. She attributed her healthy hair to sulphur and no longer getting her hair relaxed. I appreciate her sharing her "secret" with me. I've found that Sulphur truly is the "beauty mineral". Sulphur is a mineral present in all cells of the human body. It is most concentrated in hair, skin and nails. Sulphur has been called a “beauty mineral” and a “healing mineral” because of its ability to promote circulation and decrease inflammation. These qualities support the theory that when your body has the adequate amounts of sulphur, you can jump-start hair growth in people with sulphur deficiences that may be causing thinning hair or hair loss.
